Aristocrat Concludes Strategic Review of Casual and Mid-core Gaming Assets

Aristocrat Leisure Limited has finalized its strategic review of casual and mid-core gaming assets. The company sold Plarium Global Limited and restructured Big Fish Games to align with its long-term goals.

Sale of Plarium to MTG

Aristocrat Leisure Limited (ASX: ALL) completed the sale of its subsidiary, Plarium Global Limited, to Modern Times Group (MTG) (Nasdaq Stockholm: MTG B). The company announced the transaction in November 2024 as part of a strategic review that began in May 2024. Aristocrat will use proceeds from the sale to support its growth plans and capital management. The company plans to provide further details during its Annual General Meeting on 20 February 2025.

Aristocrat decided to restructure Big Fish Games after assessing ways to maximize shareholder value. The company will shift its focus to managing existing titles efficiently while halting new game development. As a result, Aristocrat will significantly reduce investments in the Big Fish portfolio.

Organizational Restructuring

With the completion of this review, Aristocrat will discontinue the Pixel United reporting segment and corporate team structure. Starting from the first-half results for the period ending 31 March 2025:

  • Product Madness will replace the Pixel United reporting segment and include results from both Product Madness and Big Fish.
  • Plarium will count as a discontinued operation, and its financial results will no longer factor into Net Profit after Tax and Before Amortization of Acquired Intangibles (NPATA).

Additionally, Superna Kalle, Aristocrat’s Chief Strategy Officer, will take executive leadership of Product Madness. She will continue overseeing Strategy, Corporate Development, Transformation, and Data.

Strategic Direction

Aristocrat’s CEO and Managing Director, Trevor Croker, emphasized that these decisions will strengthen the company’s growth strategy:

“With the completion of the strategic review of our casual and mid-core gaming assets, Aristocrat is well placed to accelerate our refreshed growth strategy. We are deepening management focus and targeting investment behind our core strengths in regulated gaming and gaming-themed content, to unlock new and adjacent opportunities across global markets.”
