Betfred Pays Out Early on Liverpool Premier League Title Win
Betfred has made the bold decision to pay out over £1 million ($1.26 million) on bets for Liverpool to win the 2024/25 Premier League title, even though 11 games remain in the season.
History of Early Payouts
This is the tenth time Betfred has settled bets early on the Premier League title. Done has been correct in seven previous cases, including last season, when he paid out £750,000 on Manchester City securing their fourth consecutive league title. However, early payouts have backfired before—most notably in 1998, when Betfred declared Manchester United the champions too soon, only for Arsenal to overturn a 12-point deficit and claim the trophy by a single point.
Similar Move by Fortuna in Poland
Betfred is not the only bookmaker making an early call on Liverpool. Fortuna, sportsbook in Poland, has also paid out on Liverpool as league champions. Additionally, Fortuna has settled bets on Mohamed Salah as the Premier League’s top scorer before the season’s conclusion.

Reflecting on his decision, Betfred Co-Founder Fred Done admitted that it was not an easy call given his personal football allegiance:
