Brightstar Secures Nine-Year Contract to Operate Italy Lotto

Brightstar Lottery has confirmed a new nine-year contract to operate Italy Lotto, extending its long-standing role in managing one of the world’s largest fixed-odds number games. The agreement follows a competitive licensing process concluded earlier this year. The company will continue overseeing the operation until November 2034.

Long-Term License Extension

Brightstar Lottery PLC announced that its subsidiary, LottoItalia S.r.l., has signed a new agreement to continue operating Italy Lotto. The contract ensures uninterrupted management of the game, which Brightstar and its predecessor companies have overseen for more than three decades. The latest extension formalizes operations through November 2034.

In July 2025, LottoItalia, a consortium led by Brightstar and including Allwyn, Arianna 2001 and Novomatic Italia, was officially awarded the Italy Lotto license by the Agenize delle Dogane e dei Monopoli after a competitive bidding process. The new agreement completes the regulatory steps required for the consortium to manage the lottery under the updated terms.

Statement from Brightstar

Renato Ascoli, Brightstar CEO, Global Lottery, commented on the agreement and future direction.

“We are delighted to finalize our agreement with ADM and honored to continue being entrusted to operate Italy Lotto, one of world’s largest lotteries. We look forward to driving Lotto wager growth with new player touchpoints and digitization of the retail experience, growing iLottery sales, and providing iCasino, sports betting, and other digital games to players in Italy.”

Brightstar reports that it supports nearly 90 lottery customers across six continents. It serves as the primary technology provider for 26 of the 46 lottery jurisdictions in the United States and supplies eight of the world’s 10 largest lotteries, reflecting its significant global presence.
