Codere Italia Launches Codere.it Platform

Codere Italia has officially launched Codere.it after receiving approval from Italy’s regulatory authority, ADM. The new platform marks the company’s entry into the regulated online gambling sector, extending its established retail presence into digital operations.

Journey From Land-Based to Online

Codere has long been active in Italy via gaming halls, bingo sites, and thousands of slot machines across bars and entertainment venues. With the launch of Codere.it, the company is now expanding into the digital space under full regulation. The move follows ADM’s granting of an extended operating license, enabling Codere to legally offer online casino and betting services in Italy.

Alejandro Pascual, Codere’s regional and Italy country manager:

“With Codere.it, we are taking a natural but strategic step: to also decisively consolidate the online segment, while maintaining our identity as a committed, regulated and customer-centric operator”

This digital expansion aligns with a broader omnichannel strategy, aiming to integrate the brand’s physical and online touchpoints into a seamless customer experience. Codere expects that combining both environments will strengthen customer loyalty and support sustainable growth. The company sees this as a critical moment to reinforce its position among Italy’s licensed operators.

Regulatory Landscape and Strategic Challenges

Italy’s updated remote gaming framework has raised the entry bar significantly. New licenses now cost €7 million, up from the previous €200,000, and operators must pay 24.5 % tax on sports betting GGR and 25.5 % on casino GGR. Additionally, 3 % of annual GGR must go to regulatory contributions and 0.2 % to responsible gaming initiatives.

Roberto Russo, director of online operations at Codere Italia:

“We have built a solid and scalable platform, ready to grow and adapt to the needs of our users and partners. Our approach is long-term, with the goal of creating a safe gaming ecosystem capable of establishing itself as a benchmark in the Italian market”

Despite high entry costs, Codere views Italy as a mature and valuable market where compliance, trust, and brand reputation can deliver long-term results. The company also believes its established retail footprint offers a competitive edge in attracting players who prefer a connected experience across both physical and digital channels. Codere has also confirmed it will continue to invest in technology and customer experience to maintain competitiveness in the demanding Italian market.
