Danish Gambling Revenue Rises to DKK 7.27bn in 2024
Denmark’s gambling sector saw notable growth in 2024, with total gross gaming revenue (GGR) reaching DKK 7.27bn ($1.02bn), marking a 6.9% year-on-year increase, according to figures released by Spillemyndigheden, the Danish Gambling Authority. Online casino gaming played a crucial role in this expansion, contributing nearly half of the total revenue.

Online casinos generated DKK 3.53bn in GGR, accounting for 48.6% of the overall market. This represented a 14.7% increase from 2023. December proved to be the most lucrative month for online casino operators, with gaming machines driving 78.2% of revenue within this vertical.
The betting sector also expanded, although at a slower pace. Betting GGR rose by 1.2% to DKK 2.21bn, with mobile betting leading sales channels, making up 66.3% of all wagers.
Gaming Machines Experience a Decline
While most market segments saw growth, gaming machines were the only vertical to record a decline, with GGR dropping 1.2% to DKK 1.16bn. The average daily revenue for this segment stood at DKK 3.18m.
Denmark’s land-based casinos generated DKK 368m in 2024, representing the smallest share of total GGR. However, this segment still saw a 1.7% increase compared to 2023.
Beyond financial performance, Denmark introduced new licensing requirements for game suppliers, with a certification program set to become mandatory from July 2025. This regulatory shift is expected to impact market dynamics in the coming years.
