Dutch Gambling Authority Targets Techno Offshore and Novatech Solutions for Illegal Gambling

The Dutch Gambling Authority (KSA) has taken firm action against Techno Offshore and Novatech Solutions, issuing penalty payment orders for operating illegal gambling websites targeting Dutch players. These companies face significant fines unless they immediately halt their activities in the Netherlands.

Companies Accused of Operating Without Licences

Techno Offshore and Novatech Solutions were found to be offering gambling services via platforms such as simplecasino.com, nolimitbet.com, qbet.com, and 55bet.com. These activities violated Dutch gambling regulations, which require operators to hold a valid licence from the KSA to target players in the region.

Penalties and Compliance Requirements

The KSA’s penalty payment orders mandate that both companies cease their operations in the Dutch market immediately. Non-compliance will result in fines of €280,000 ($295,000) per week, capped at €840,000.

KSA inspectors revealed that both companies permitted Dutch players to gamble on their platforms. Techno Offshore, for example, blocked KSA-associated accounts after detection but failed to prevent access for other Dutch users, indicating an effort to bypass enforcement.

Similarly, Novatech Solutions continued operating through multiple websites, including 55bet.com, despite blocking qbet.com for Dutch users.

Ongoing Violations and Enforcement Challenges

KSA chairman Michel Groothuizen criticized the companies for their tactics:

“Illegal providers operate in a sophisticated manner. We see providers without a KSA licence who really do their best to keep Dutch players out, but also many parties who don’t seem to care.”

Groothuizen highlighted how some operators stop offering services after inspections but quickly resume operations under different platforms. He affirmed the KSA’s commitment to strict enforcement, stating:

“With an order subject to penalty payments, we put a stop to the offer as soon as possible, but afterwards we can just as easily impose a hefty fine for the same violation.”
