Dutch Regulator Finds Improvement in Sports Betting Risk Analyses
The Dutch Gambling Authority (Kansspelautoriteit) has released findings from an investigation into the risk analyses conducted by licensed online sports betting operators. The review focused on how operators identify, assess, and mitigate risks related to match integrity and potential manipulation.
Examination of Sports Betting Risk Analyses
The Ksa assessed the procedures of four licensed operators, focusing on their approach to identifying, analyzing, and evaluating integrity risks in sports events. These mandatory risk assessments are designed to help operators detect and prevent match-fixing within their betting offerings.
The regulator launched its investigation following reports submitted to the Sports Betting Intelligence Unit (SBIU) concerning a potentially manipulated match. By examining operators’ risk analyses, the Ksa aimed to determine whether the companies properly recognize, assess, and address the risks of manipulation in their betting portfolios.

Findings and Areas for Improvement
According to the Ksa, operators generally meet expectations in conducting integrity risk assessments, marking progress compared to last year’s evaluations. However, the regulator noted that there remains room for improvement—particularly in detailing specific risks, implementing preventive measures, and fulfilling reporting obligations.
