Dutch Regulator Fines Luxurybingods for Unlicensed Bingo Operations
The Dutch gaming regulator, Kansspelautoriteit (KSA), has imposed a fine on the company Luxurybingods for advertising and running unlicensed bingo operations across the country.
Luxurybingods Hit with Substantial Penalties
Luxurybingods was fined €19,000 for each unlicensed bingo event, with a maximum of €190,000. In addition, the company was fined €9,500 per advertisement promoting these events, up to a maximum of €95,000.
The investigation into the company began in March after it was reported to the KSA. Regulatory agents sent to the Harbour Club in Eindhoven found an unlicensed bingo event in progress, organized by Luxurybingods.
Tickets for the event were priced at €65, and the prizes exceeded the legal limits set by Dutch regulations. Moreover, it was revealed that the event had been promoted on the social media platform TikTok, further violating advertising guidelines.
When imposing the fines, the KSA expressed concern over the recurring nature of Luxurybingods’ violations. The regulator noted that the company has been scrutinized in the past for similar activities, suggesting a pattern of regulatory non-compliance. Additionally, evidence emerged that unlicensed bingo events had been held by the company at other locations.
KSA Intensifies Crackdown on Illegal Gambling
This action against Luxurybingods is part of the KSA’s ongoing effort to crack down on illegal gambling operations in the Netherlands. Earlier this year, the regulator issued a €19.7 million fine to Gammix for similar breaches.
The KSA has also issued numerous warnings and fines to other companies, highlighting its intent to enforce compliance and maintain the integrity of the Dutch gambling market.
