Esportes Gaming Brasil Appoints Hugo Baungartner to Lead Institutional and Regulatory Strategy

Esportes da Sorte and Onabet operator strengthens executive team with appointment of Hugo Baungartner, who will oversee institutional relations, regulatory compliance, and strategic partnerships in Brazil.

A Regulatory Veteran Joins at a Critical Juncture

Esportes Gaming Brasil, the parent group of Esportes da Sorte and Onabet, has appointed Hugo Baungartner as Executive Director for Institutional Relations and Strategic Partnerships. The move signals a clear focus on regulatory positioning and strategic alignment as Brazil accelerates its efforts to structure a fully regulated gambling market.

Baungartner’s remit spans engagement with key institutions—including the Secretariat of Prizes and Betting (SPA/MF), the Federal Revenue Service, the Central Bank, and COAF—as well as certification bodies and accredited laboratories. His appointment is part of a broader push by the group to strengthen its presence in the formal market and align operations with evolving legal frameworks.

Steering Growth Through Governance

“Hugo’s arrival strengthens our ability to act strategically in a constantly evolving sector. He brings an experienced, technical perspective aligned with the principles of governance and innovation that guide our group’s companies,” said Darwin Filho, CEO of Esportes Gaming Brasil.

With nearly three decades of experience in technology and gaming—including senior roles at Grupo Aposta Ganha, RCT Gaming, and Prohards—Baungartner is expected to play a central role in shaping the group’s strategic direction. His focus will include both public-sector relations and the development of global partnerships, as well as oversight of potential mergers and acquisitions.

Building on Brazil’s Regulatory Momentum

“Brazil is going through a crucial moment in regulating the sector, and being at the forefront of this movement with such a relevant group is a challenge that truly motivates me. Our goal is to ensure our operations not only meet legal requirements but also serve as a benchmark for best practices, innovation, and sustainable growth”, commented Hugo Baungartner.

His task will also involve preparing Esportes Gaming Brasil to adapt to regulatory developments, a priority as Brazil seeks to professionalize its betting industry and bring transparency to a market.
