Evolution Appoints Joakim Andersson as New Chief Financial Officer
Joakim Andersson has been appointed as the new CFO of Evolution, taking over from Jacob Kaplan, who served in the role for over nine years and will now transition to an advisory position. This leadership change comes as Evolution faces a UK license review.
Andersson Succeeds Kaplan as Evolution CFO
Joakim Andersson is set to take over as chief financial officer at Evolution, effective February 18th. This follows Jacob Kaplan’s decision to step down after more than nine years in the role.
Kaplan, who joined Evolution in 2016, will remain with the company for a short period in an advisory capacity. Andersson brings a wealth of experience from various financial sectors, most recently serving as CFO at Slättö, a real estate private equity firm.
Andersson’s Background and Industry Experience
Andersson’s career includes significant financial leadership roles. Prior to his position at Slättö, he was CFO at Cint Group, a Swedish software company.
He also held senior positions at Kinnevik, a Swedish investment business, and Banque Invik Luxembourg Filial.
Andersson stated on LinkedIn, “I’m looking forward to collaborating with the talented team at Evolution to further strengthen the company’s financial position and continue delivering value to its stakeholders.”
Carlesund Praises Kaplan and Welcomes Andersson
Evolution CEO Martin Carlesund acknowledged Kaplan’s contributions, stating, “I want to thank Jacob for his work and contribution to the development of Evolution into the group we are today. He has been an integral part of our management team and played a key role in our expansion and mission to improve the company each day.”
Carlesund also expressed his enthusiasm for working with Andersson, adding, “He has a strong background as an accomplished CFO. He will strengthen our team and help the company take the next steps in its development.”
UK Licence Review Follows Unlicensed Operator Issue
This leadership transition occurs as Evolution faces a review of its UK operating license by the Gambling Commission. The review was initiated after the Commission discovered that Evolution’s games were being provided to unlicensed operators in the UK.
Evolution has stated that it is cooperating fully with the investigation and has “taken requested immediate action to remedy the situation,” including removing content from an illegal website. The UK market accounts for approximately 3% of Evolution’s reported revenue.
