Gamban Adds Finnish to Support Safer Gambling in Finland

Gamban, a provider of gambling-blocking software, has released a Finnish-language version of its application. The update aims to make access to gambling self-exclusion tools easier for people in Finland, a country where gambling-related harm remains a serious concern.

New Language Support Removes Barrier to Self-Exclusion

Gamban’s latest update includes Finnish as a language option, allowing individuals in Finland to access the platform in their native language. According to Gamban CEO Jack Symons, the move addresses a critical gap in access:

“Language should never be a barrier to accessing help. By introducing Finnish to Gamban, we’re ensuring that more people in Finland can access the tools they need. We hope this update makes the process of blocking gambling on devices more intuitive and effective.”

Finland has long grappled with the social impact of gambling, where high participation rates and a state-run monopoly model have coexisted with rising concern over harm reduction. Gamban’s inclusion of Finnish is part of an effort to make its tools more effective in local contexts. The company stated that “with gambling harming thousands of individuals in Finland,” providing support in the local language was a necessary step.

Partnership with Veikkaus Strengthens National Support

Gamban’s Finnish-language expansion builds on its existing partnership with Veikkaus, the government-owned betting operator. Under the agreement, Veikkaus provides Gamban licences free of charge to customers, including those identified as exhibiting risky gambling behavior.

Susanna Saikkonen, Vice President of Sustainability at Veikkaus, commented:

“Veikkaus has built a comprehensive and unique safer gambling environment for our customers, and Gamban is an additional service to those who want to make a self-exclusion to all Veikkaus games. It’s also offered to customers with signs of risky behaviour when they are contacted through care calls. Gamban has been a really helpful service, and we are happy that it’s now available in Finnish.”

Accessing Gamban in Finnish

Existing Gamban users can access the Finnish version by updating their app. New users can download the software via Gamban’s website or app stores. The tool can be installed on mobile devices and desktop systems to block access to gambling sites and apps.
