GiG Completes PowerPlay Migration in Ontario iGaming Market

Gaming Innovation Group (GiG) has completed a strategic migration of PowerPlay Online Casino & Sportsbook onto its iGaming platform, marking PowerPlay’s official relaunch in Ontario. This is the fourth brand supported by GiG in the regulated province, highlighting the company’s growing footprint in the Canadian market.

Strategic Expansion in a Growing Market

GiG continues to expand its presence in Ontario, where regulated online gambling has seen steady growth since its launch in April 2022. According to the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO), the province generated CA$738 million in Gross Gaming Revenue in the second quarter of the 2024–25 fiscal year, up 35.4% year-over-year.

The latest partnership with PowerPlay underlines GiG’s strategy to facilitate market entries across North America, with Alberta noted as a future target pending regulatory developments.

PowerPlay Joins GiG’s Platform Ecosystem

As part of the migration, PowerPlay now operates on GiG’s award-winning iGaming platform and gains access to a full suite of next-generation tools. These include the SportX sportsbook, the LogicX rules-based engine, and GiG’s proprietary content management system.

Richard Carter, Chief Executive Officer at GiG, said:

“GiG’s expertise in delivering market-leading technology is once again proving instrumental in helping partners like PowerPlay navigate the complexities of regulated markets. The successful launch into Ontario highlights our ability to facilitate seamless market entry while ensuring stability and scalability for long-term growth. Our continued focus on delivering brilliant basics, from secure platform infrastructure to optimised user experiences, is key to enabling partners to maximise their potential. We’re proud to be playing a role in PowerPlay’s success and the ongoing evolution of both the Ontarian market and the wider future of iGaming in Canada, reinforcing our reputation as a trusted partner in the regulated space.”

Enhanced Offering Through AI and Localised Features

PowerPlay’s migration also brings access to advanced AI tools such as DataX and LogicX, designed to support personalised engagement, rule automation, and marketing optimisation. The SportX platform further expands PowerPlay’s offering with dynamic odds, bet builder functionality, virtual sports, and horse racing.

Dean Serrao, Chief Executive Officer at PowerPlay, commented:

“The successful migration to GiG’s technology platform is a milestone for PowerPlay as we continue to grow in Ontario. This partnership allows us to offer an enhanced and seamless experience for our players, while leveraging GiG’s flexible and scalable solutions to expand our presence in the market. We are excited for what’s ahead and confident this move will help us strengthen our position as a leading brand in the province.”
