Greek Regulator Introduces AI Tool to Strengthen Player Protection

The Hellenic Gaming Commission has partnered with Mindway AI to integrate a self-assessment tool aimed at detecting risky gambling behavior.

AI-Powered Screening Now Available on HGC Website

The Hellenic Gaming Commission (HGC) has rolled out a new initiative focused on player welfare. Through its collaboration with Mindway AI, the regulator has added Gamalyze, an AI-based self-assessment tool, to its website. The tool allows users to evaluate their gambling habits and receive feedback tailored to their behavioral patterns.

Gamalyze functions by analyzing a player’s decision-making process. It does this through a gamified format that encourages engagement while delivering clinically grounded insights. The goal is early detection of risky behavior, which can help prevent gambling-related harm.

Player-Centric Approach Using AI

HGC President Dimitrios Ntzanatos emphasized the Commission’s intention to leverage technology for proactive regulation.

The HGC leverages technology to enhance player protection. The integration of Gamalyze into the Commission’s website marks a significant step towards a safer and more sustainable gaming environment,” he said.

The partnership is part of a broader trend in the gambling sector. Regulators and companies are increasingly adopting artificial intelligence to manage risk and improve operational efficiency. AI offers real-time insights and the ability to scale these protections across a national or even international player base.

AI’s Expanding Role in iGaming

The deployment of Gamalyze in Greece reflects a growing industry shift toward AI-driven solutions. As noted by iGP CEO Jovana Popovic-Canaki in a recent interview, AI’s role is becoming central in several areas—from fraud detection to customer experience.

“Among the most important reasons why one would want to implement AI into their solutions is real-time reaction and scalability. With any AI-enhanced module that an operator or a provider decides to implement, it will help them grow much faster and more efficiently,” said Popovic-Canaki.

Aiming for Higher Transparency Standards

According to Mindway AI CEO Rasmus Kjaergaard, the cooperation with HGC demonstrates how cross-border collaboration can influence regulatory standards.

“Working with the Hellenic Gaming Commission exemplifies the impact of international cooperation in elevating standards across the gaming industry. We are excited to see Gamalyze empowering players in Greece and enhancing the HGC’s efforts in promoting responsible gambling,” Kjaergaard said.

This initiative signals a policy shift toward more preventive measures in gambling oversight. While tools like Gamalyze do not replace regulatory enforcement, they provide players with accessible resources to better understand and manage their behavior.
