IBIA Launches Enhanced Integrity Monitoring Platform
The International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA) has announced a significant upgrade to its global integrity monitoring platform, aimed at strengthening efforts to protect regulated betting markets, safeguard consumers, and ensure the integrity of sporting events worldwide. The technology upgrade, developed in partnership with Bluehouse Technology, arrives at a pivotal moment as Brazil’s regulated sports betting market prepares for its launch.
Advanced Monitoring for Integrity Protection
The upgraded platform streamlines the identification and reporting of suspicious betting activities, offering enhanced data analysis tools and actionable insights for stakeholders. It integrates advanced monitoring capabilities and alert systems, enabling efficient cooperation with gambling regulators and sporting authorities. By improving interaction and investigatory support, IBIA reinforces its commitment to safeguarding global betting markets against manipulation.
A Collaborative Technological Effort
Khalid Ali, CEO of IBIA, emphasized the platform’s role in supporting the association’s mission: “IBIA’s new integrity technology platform provides enhanced functionality and greatly improves our ability to analyse our members’ customer account level data, which covers over $300bn in betting transactions annually, to identify and report suspicious betting activity. The upgrade allows us to provide a technological platform that keeps pace with the integrity requirements of our growing membership and the scope and scale of the market data we receive across our wider intelligence network. It will be a key pillar in our ongoing efforts to protect the integrity of sporting events and regulated sports betting markets globally.”
Sharmila Pillai, Director at Bluehouse Technology, highlighted the successful collaboration: “We are thrilled to have worked closely with IBIA to develop this new monitoring and alert platform. Our team worked hard to ensure the project was completed on time and within budget, and we are pleased that it has passed a rigorous independent security audit by a leading testing and certification company.”
The platform has undergone a thorough security review by Bulletproof, a Gaming Laboratories International (GLI) company, ensuring robust protection against vulnerabilities.
Aligning with Brazil’s Growing Betting Market
The platform upgrade coincides with Brazil’s imminent entry into the regulated sports betting sector, projected by H2 Gambling Capital to reach $34 billion in turnover by 2028. IBIA has solidified its presence in Brazil by signing an integrity cooperation agreement with the Brazilian Ministry of Finance, enabling the exchange of information on suspicious activities related to Brazilian sports.
Khalid Ali added: “The upgrade of IBIA’s monitoring and alert platform is particularly timely given the imminent launch of regulated sports betting in Brazil. We’re confident that this tool will provide best-in-class support for our new members and partners, including the Brazilian authorities and sporting bodies, to protect the market and sporting events.”
Proven Impact of IBIA Alerts
IBIA’s global monitoring network has proven effective in detecting corruption and irregularities. In Q3 2023, the association issued 42 alerts, contributing to the sanctioning of 21 clubs, players, and officials during the year. With its enhanced platform, IBIA aims to continue supporting investigations and maintaining integrity across the industry.
