Alister Lui

Alister Lui is a Chartered Accountant with extensive experience across the finance sectors of London and Melbourne. He currently serves as the Global Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at iGaming operator PointsBet.

Bio

Foundational Finance Roles And Qualifications

Lui established his finance career after graduating from the University of Melbourne in 2006. He earned a Bachelor of Information Systems, Accounting & Finance. In March 2007, he began as a Senior Accountant at Ernst and Young. He held this crucial role for three and a half years, gaining exposure in both London and Melbourne.

The UK Years

Following his tenure at EY, Lui moved into the demanding world of UK banking. He held analytical and managerial roles at several high-profile institutions.

His brief stint as MI Reporting Manager at HSBC London began in August 2010. He then served as Finance at Barclays for a year and a half. From March to October 2012, Lui was the Senior MI Treasury Analyst at the Royal Bank of Scotland.

Return To Australia

Lui returned to Melbourne in 2013, taking on a four-year role as Manager at ANZ. He then had a brief stint as Financial Reporting Manager for MessageMedia. In November 2017, Lui made the strategic pivot to the iGaming industry, joining PointsBet.

PointsBet Leadership

Lui quickly demonstrated his value within the iGaming operator’s finance function. He started as the Head of Finance for PointsBet Australia in November 2017. Over nearly five years, he was a critical figure in the Australian business. In September 2022, his performance led to an internal promotion to Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for PointsBet Australia.

In late 2023, the company announced his appointment as the new Global CFO for the entire PointsBet group. Lui officially stepped into this paramount role in March 2024, succeeding Andrew Mellor.
