Joanne Whittaker’s association with Betfred began in the early 2000s, where she initially served as the Head of IT at the company’s Warrington headquarters. Her background in programming and information technology positioned her to oversee and enhance Betfred’s technological infrastructure during a period of significant growth.
Entrepreneurial Ventures
In 2005, Whittaker ventured into entrepreneurship by founding Fideliti, a childcare voucher provider. This initiative was supported by Betfred founder Fred Done, who invested in exchange for a 25% stake in the company. Under Whittaker’s leadership, Fideliti expanded rapidly, achieving a turnover exceeding £83 million by March 2019. She also established two additional businesses with Done’s backing: Angel Advance, a debt advice service, and Workplace Finance, a loans company.
Return to Betfred and Leadership
In April 2021, Whittaker returned to Betfred as Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Fred Done, who transitioned to the role of Chairman.
