Johan Ohman
Johan Ohman, founder and CEO of Slotmill, has led the company since 2019. Drawing on decades of experience in gaming and finance, he has positioned Slotmill as a slot studio focused on performance, design, and regulated growth across Europe.
Bio
From industry executive to entrepreneurial founder
Ohman served as CEO of NetEnt from 2003 to 2011. During that time, he guided product development and helped scale the business. After leaving NetEnt, he worked in finance, including as CEO of Beringer Sweden and chairman of Hero Gaming. In 2019, he launched Slotmill with a clear goal – to build a studio delivering high‑quality slots that load fast and play smoothly.
As a result, the company quickly released its first mobile‑optimized titles. Within two years, Slotmill secured its B2B license from the Malta Gaming Authority. Ohman later described the license as “a seal of credibility” for the growing brand. In launching Slotmill, he combined his experience in regulated product delivery with financial discipline. This allowed him to structure the company for long-term growth from the outset.
Visionary leadership and global reach
Under Ohman’s leadership, Slotmill expanded beyond Europe. The company entered markets such as the Netherlands, Switzerland, Portugal, Mexico, and Colombia. In parallel, it signed deals with operators including Alea, TOTO Casino, and FDJ United. Moreover, Ohman promoted lightweight game builds with cinematic visuals. This design focus paid off. In 2023, Slotmill topped the Slots Launch rankings, with all its games listed in the top 10 for 52 consecutive weeks. In 2024, iGaming Express named Ohman to its Top 100 list of influential industry figures. His approach – clear, disciplined, and data-aware – has helped Slotmill stand out in a competitive space.
Education and professional roots
Ohman studied at Tekniska Gymnasiet before continuing at Lund University and the University of Reading. He later earned an MBA from Henley Business School and completed executive studies at Harvard Business School Online. These programs strengthened his business and strategy foundation. In addition to academic learning, he gained practical insights through leadership in both gaming and finance. Today, he lives in Stockholm and continues to engage with the European iGaming community through panels, interviews, and public commentary.
