Bio

Early Career and Education

Bauer studied at IMC Krems University of Applied Sciences in Austria from 2002 to 2006. There, he specialized in International Business, Economics, Finance, and Geopolitics. He later earned his CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) designation, completing all three levels between 2007 and 2009. This academic foundation prepared him for a career rooted in financial strategy and risk management.

He began his professional journey in 2005 with an internship at Deutsche Börse. From 2006 to 2009, he worked at PwC as a Manager focused on financial modeling, engineering, and PPP projects. Later, he joined Alpine Bau GmbH as Head of Financial Structuring. There, he led bid teams and negotiated high-value project finance deals.

In 2013, Bauer entered the gaming space by joining Novomatic as a Project Manager. Two years later, he moved to Greentube, beginning a long-standing chapter of leadership and transformation.

Early Years at Greentube

Bauer joined Greentube in February 2015 as Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO). In this role, he was responsible for setting up the company’s financial strategy and operations. Within months, he led a major organizational restructuring, dividing the business into three core verticals: games, operations, and platform. This structure made the company more agile and focused.

Thanks to this shift, Greentube achieved five consecutive years of revenue growth. Key markets such as Italy, Germany, and the United States saw strong performance under his financial leadership.

In September 2017, Bauer expanded his responsibilities by becoming Chief Games Officer (CGO). He led the games vertical, driving product innovation, boosting game development, and expanding the B2B portfolio.

One of his most impactful moves was leading Greentube’s entry into North America. To support this strategy, he spearheaded the acquisition of Present Creative, a game studio based in San Francisco. This helped the company strengthen its U.S. market presence and diversify its content pipeline.

Taking on Product and Revenue Leadership

In 2025, Bauer transitioned into a dual role as Chief Product Officer (CPO) and Chief Revenue Officer (CRO). Now fully focused on Greentube’s games and commercial strategy, he oversees product innovation, global expansion, and B2B revenue growth.

His leadership has contributed to Greentube’s recognition as a key global player. He continues to set new standards for integrating product strategy with data and financial discipline.

Leadership Style

Michael Bauer’s leadership blends data-driven decision-making with creative agility, allowing Greentube to remain responsive in a fast-moving industry. His dual background in finance and product gives him a unique ability to connect commercial strategy with game development.

He promotes a collaborative culture, emphasizing open communication, innovation, and shared responsibility. Bauer is known for his belief that “content is king, but data is the queen,” reflecting his commitment to balancing creative development with regional market analysis.

He is also a firm believer in strategic focus over micromanagement, ensuring that product and financial planning work hand in hand. His approach to leadership includes risk management, empathy, and work-life balance, making him a respected figure among colleagues and teams.

Michael Bauer has played a pivotal role in Greentube’s transformation into a global iGaming content provider. With a foundation in financial expertise and a forward-thinking approach to product innovation, he continues to guide the company through expansion, diversification, and sustainable success. His leadership remains central to Greentube’s strategy in navigating the evolving landscape of digital gaming.
