Early Life And Education

Bowen studied at Macquarie University, later completing an MBA at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS). Before entering gaming, he worked in the sporting and pharmaceutical industries.

Career Inside Aristocrat

Bowen joined Aristocrat almost two decades ago and quickly moved into leadership positions in the Americas. His focus on product and marketing in the region gave him firsthand insight into content performance and operator expectations.

He later became General Manager for Australia and New Zealand, taking responsibility for the company’s home-region operations.

His appointment as CEO of Aristocrat Gaming marked a pivotal stage in his career. He guided the global land-based division during a period of strong product cycles and rising expectations for consistent hit-making.

Transition Into Online Real Money Gaming and Transformation Role

When Aristocrat committed to entering the online real-money sector, Bowen became one of the architects of that strategy. He oversaw the creation of the company’s RMG arm, which was later branded Anaxi.

Crucially, during this period, he also served as the Group’s Chief Transformation Officer (CTO), emphasizing his central role in guiding Aristocrat’s overall growth and restructuring strategy.

His work focused on building a complete digital ecosystem that combined content, platforms, and supporting technology. This “build and buy” approach positioned Aristocrat to compete effectively in regulated markets rather than rely solely on legacy strengths.

The direction became even clearer when Aristocrat acquired NeoGames.

Advisory Period

Following the completion of the NeoGames acquisition, Mitchell Bowen stepped down from his executive role in April 2024. He remained with Aristocrat as an advisor through the end of the year. His focus during this period was to ensure continuity as the company integrated NeoGames into the unified interactive business, now branded Aristocrat Interactive.

His past board experience at TASK Group and long tenure at Aristocrat continue to shape how he is viewed within the industry.
