Early Career and Entry into the Betting Industry

Sacha Dragic entered the betting industry in 2006, joining Mozzart Sports Bets as Executive Vice President International. In this role, he managed operations in Romania, Macedonia, and Kosovo, gaining experience in market expansion and betting regulations.

In 2008, Dragic founded Superbet with a vision to build a modern, scalable betting operation that blended retail and online experiences. Unlike many regional competitors, he focused heavily on technological development, customer engagement, and international expansion.

Superbet’s Growth and Blackstone Investment

The strategy paid off. Superbet quickly dominated the Romanian market and expanded into other countries. It built a strong omnichannel presence, with both physical betting shops and a fast-growing online platform. Currently the company operates in 12 countries, with key markets in Romania, Belgium, Poland, Serbia and Brazil.

A defining moment came in 2019, when Blackstone, the world’s largest private equity firm, invested €175 million in Superbet. This move propelled the company into the global spotlight, marking it as one of the most valuable gaming brands in Europe.

In February 2025, Superbet raised a further €1.3bn from the Blackstone fund, which will enable growth in new markets such as Brazil and M&A optionality. The funds will also be invested in innovative technologies.

After more than a decade at the helm of Superbet, Dragic stepped down as CEO in 2019, shifting to a board role to make way for new leadership. But in September 2024, he returned as Co-CEO, joining forces with Jimmy Maymann to help steer the company through its next stage of expansion.

Business Ventures

Dragic’s influence extends beyond sports betting. He founded D Moonshots Ltd in 2019, a venture capital firm focused on high-growth startups. He also invested in New Money (2016) and Sportening (2021–2023), supporting projects at the intersection of media, technology, and sports.

Dragic’s multilingual skills—Croatian, Romanian, Serbian, English, and French—have been instrumental in building partnerships across diverse markets. His ability to recognize emerging trends has positioned him as a key figure in the industry.

Sacha Dragic has already transformed Superbet into a top-tier global player, but his ambitions extend further. With an expanding footprint in Latin America and other strategic markets, his next moves will define Superbet’s place.
