Loto-Québec’s Q2 Financials Show Strong Growth
Loto-Québec has announced robust financial results for the second quarter of its fiscal year, with revenue reaching $814.2 million—a 16.1% increase compared to the same period last year.
All Sectors Shine
The lottery operator’s net income for Q2 amounted to $421.6 million, marking an 18.5% year-over-year growth. Revenue was driven by multiple sectors:
- Lottery products generated $474.2 million.
- Casino and gaming halls contributed $608.9 million.
- Gaming establishments accounted for $432.5 million.
This was done in spite of the economic conditions.
For the year to date (April 1 to September 30), Loto-Québec reported $1.504 billion in cumulative revenue, up 6.5% year over year. Net income was $771.3 million, up 4.7%. Lottery winners won almost $720 million in prizes during this period.
Community and Responsible Gaming
Jean-François Bergeron, President and CEO of Loto-Québec, said: “We’re in such good shape halfway through the year and it’s because of the work done across all our sectors in the last few months. We had great results despite the economic context, so we’re confident we’ll reach our net income target. Remember 100% of our profits are reinvested in the community.”
The company has been promoting responsible commercialization through its new Wise Play program launched in September. The program promotes responsible gaming practices, including setting limits, through a single awareness campaign.
In Q1 (April 1 to June 24), Loto-Québec reported $689.7 million in revenue and $349.7 million in net income. Revenue came from:
- Lottery: $219.1 million.
- Casinos and gaming halls: $275 million.
- Gaming establishments: $200.7 million.
