Midnite Awards £25,000 to Snooker Fan After Mark Allen’s 147 at World Championship
A snooker fan attending the 2025 World Championship in Sheffield secured a £25,000 prize after witnessing Mark Allen’s 147 break, thanks to a special promotion by Midnite.

£25,000 Prize Delivered After Crucible Maximum
Brian Nicholls, a 75-year-old snooker enthusiast from Tamworth, won £25,000 after attending Friday’s 10am session at the Crucible. Nicholls had enrolled in the “Midnite Maximum” promotion, which offers £25,000 to a randomly selected attendee from each session if a maximum break is scored.
Mark Allen’s flawless 147 against Chris Wakelin during their Round 2 match secured the payout. Nicholls described his reaction as one of disbelief and joy.
“I can’t believe it, I’m over the moon. I just want to spend the money and enjoy it. It just doesn’t happen, does it? It was one in a million. And to watch that, the 147, I was shaking when he got to the last few colours. Just over the moon,” he said.
Speaking about his winnings, Nicholls shared plans to celebrate with a cruise and support his family.
“I’m going to spend the money on a cruise. I’ll have to give my son, Ian, some because it was down to him, all of this. Then just enjoy it – it’s a lovely amount of money to just have drop on your lap. I just can’t believe it,” he added.
