Nick Rust to Step Down as Chair of the Industry Forum After Two-Year Term
Nick Rust, Chair of the UK Gambling Commission’s Industry Forum, will step down from the role this November, concluding a two-year tenure.

A Key Architect of the Forum’s Foundations
Nick Rust, the first Chair of the Industry Forum, has confirmed he will leave the post at the end of his agreed term. Appointed to help establish a structured platform for industry perspectives within the Gambling Commission’s governance model, Rust played a central role in shaping the Forum’s remit and influence.
Reflecting on his time in the position, Rust described the role as a “privilege” and credited the Forum with helping the Commission better understand how its policy decisions affect both operators and consumers. “I’m pleased with the work the Forum has delivered,” he said, adding that the group has provided valuable insights into the Commission’s policy and operational approach.

Rust’s departure marks the conclusion of the Forum’s foundational phase, during which it moved from concept to an embedded part of the Commission’s governance structure. The Forum, made up of industry stakeholders, provides regulated input into Commission initiatives—part of a wider push by the regulator to maintain dialogue with the gambling sector without compromising its independence.
Tributes from Commission officials acknowledged Rust’s role in getting the Forum off the ground. Helen Child, Head of Governance, said he had been “instrumental” in developing the group and thanked him for his leadership. Chief Executive Andrew Rhodes echoed that sentiment, calling Rust a “valuable sounding board” and a source of “knowledge and insight.”
A successor will be announced in due course. Until then, Rust is expected to continue supporting the Forum during the handover period.
