Nicola Libreri Appointed Deputy CEO of the Isle of Man Gambling Supervision Commission

The Isle of Man Gambling Supervision Commission (GSC) has named Nicola Libreri as its new Deputy Chief Executive Officer, reinforcing its commitment to regulatory excellence and financial crime prevention.

Strengthening Oversight and Strategic Coordination

Nicola Libreri, who joined the GSC in 2018, has been appointed Deputy CEO. She previously led the Commission’s newly formed Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) Division. In that role, she oversaw inspections, enforcement, policy development, and outreach. These responsibilities made her a central figure in the GSC’s recent regulatory progress.

Her appointment comes as the GSC sharpens its strategic focus on data-driven supervision and cross-agency collaboration. Mark Rutherford, CEO of the GSC, highlighted Libreri’s contributions:

“Nicola has played a key role over the last year in strengthening the GSC’s AML/CFT oversight and will continue to drive forward initiatives to support the sector’s understanding of emerging risks.”

Regulatory Expertise and International Engagement

Libreri brings a strong mix of academic credentials and practical experience to the role. She holds ICA Diplomas in AML/CFT and in Governance, Risk and Compliance. In addition, she is trained in blockchain analysis – an area that is becoming increasingly relevant for regulators.

Her experience goes far beyond the Isle of Man. She has taken part in international panels and delivered specialist training on money laundering, terrorist financing, and proliferation financing. More recently, she worked with the Council of Europe to train financial regulators in Serbia. Thanks to this international experience, she is well-positioned to help align the Island’s regulatory approach with global standards.
