Playtech CSO Daniel Liber Departs After 7 Years

Daniel Liber, Playtech’s Chief Security Officer (CSO) and Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), has resigned after a seven-year tenure.

Key Roles and Responsibilities at Playtech

Daniel joined Playtech in December 2017 as Director of Application Security and worked his way up to multiple roles. His last role was CSO and CISO where he looked after the global security framework.

During his time at Playtech, Liber managed a team of 70 people across 10 locations, focused on security operations, compliance and business continuity in a fast paced digital world. His work was key to increasing Playtech’s overall cyber resilience and protecting the systems in the complex and competitive gaming and software industry.

Cybersecurity Experience Before Playtech

Before Playtech, Liber gained his cybersecurity experience through roles at Amdocs and CyberArk. At Amdocs he was a security solutions architect where he developed practical solutions to emerging security problems. At CyberArk from 2014 to 2016 he led R&D security projects, giving him a strong background in security operations.

He had the technical and strategic skills to tackle Playtech’s cybersecurity challenges, especially balancing regulatory with operational pace.

Daniel Liber’s Thoughts

In a LinkedIn post, Liber said his departure was one of the hardest decisions he’s ever made. He thanked his team for the culture they built and the opportunities for personal and professional growth.

He’s still active in the cyber space through Cyber Club London, an investment group that supports cybersecurity initiatives. So he’ll continue to contribute to the field.

Liber’s departure is part of other changes at Playtech. Non-Executive Director Anna Massion will leave in February 2025 as she pursues new opportunities. It’s a big change for the company as it navigates the new market and gets ready for growth.
