Ryan Moore Joins World Pool as Ambassador for 2025 Season

World Pool, the largest commingled horse racing betting pool powered by the Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC), has announced a partnership with four-time LONGINES World’s Best Jockey winner Ryan Moore for the 2025 season. As an ambassador, Moore will provide expert insights, contribute to marketing campaigns, and support World Pool’s expansion efforts in international racing.

Ryan Moore’s Role in World Pool

Ryan Moore, the stable jockey for Aidan O’Brien’s Ballydoyle operation, has secured Group 1 victories across the globe. In his ambassadorial role, he will contribute regular blogs and insights leading up to major World Pool meetings while also featuring in promotional campaigns.

“World Pool has been such an important addition to the entire racing industry over the past few years and I’m delighted to be an ambassador for the brand. The Hong Kong Jockey Club should be congratulated for all the effort and investment they’ve put into it. I’ve always said that Hong Kong is the blueprint for the way horseracing should be run, and World Pool is helping to amplify the very best racing on a global stage. It’s great that racing fans from around the world get the chance to bet into these large pools”, said Ryan Moore.

“It’s important that the racing world starts to work together, and to have everyone pulling in the same direction. If we’re speaking with one voice and trying to achieve the same goals it will really help the whole sport to prosper. World Pool plays a big part in that, and I look forward to being part of that journey”, he added.

The Growth of World Pool

Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges, CEO of the Hong Kong Jockey Club, praised Moore’s reputation and expertise, highlighting his suitability as an ambassador.

“Ryan Moore has been at the pinnacle of our sport for many years and it is fitting that a world-class jockey of such international renown and respect is an ambassador for World Pool. Not only is Ryan a world-class jockey, he is also a highly intelligent individual who is passionate about racing and its future. He recognises the benefits that World Pool provides to racing all over the world and we couldn’t think of a better person to represent the brand.”

Engelbrecht-Bresges also underscored the momentum behind World Pool’s expansion.

“We had a strong 2024 with World Pool and we are continuing to grow it in 2025 with more fixtures, more races and more split cards. New Zealand is hosting World Pool races for the first time, while all 12 Hong Kong Group 1s in 2025 will be run under the World Pool banner.”

World Pool has already established itself as a major force in horse racing betting. In 2024, the HKJC announced that its contributions to British and Irish racecourses through World Pool had exceeded £50 million.

The UK and Ireland Flat season ended on a record-breaking note, with a 12-race composite card from Australia and British Champions Day at Ascot generating HK$424.1 million (£48 million) in betting turnover on a single day. This brought the total season turnover to HK$4.6 billion (approximately £455 million).

In 2025, World Pool is expanding into new markets, having already made its debut in New Zealand for Railway Stakes Day. The year’s upcoming fixtures include Futurity Stakes Day at Caulfield, Australia, and Saudi Cup Day at King Abdulaziz Racecourse in Saudi Arabia on February 22. These will be followed by the Hong Kong Gold Cup and Queen’s Silver Jubilee Cup at Sha Tin on February 23.
