Superbet Leads the Way as the First Regulated Sports Betting Operator in Brazil
Superbet Brasil has set a landmark in the Brazilian sports betting market by becoming the first operator to pay the R$30 million grant required to operate under the country’s new regulatory framework.
Superbet’s Journey to Regulation
Superbet was among the first companies to seek authorization to operate in Brazil, following only Betano. However, it became the first to successfully complete the grant process, marking a significant step in its commitment to the regulated market.
Despite being established just a year ago, Superbet has consistently shown its adherence to legal standards, operating exclusively in markets with defined regulations.
This achievement solidifies the company’s presence in Brazil, as it fulfills all Ministry of Treasury requirements and sets an example for other operators in the industry.
CEO Highlights Benefits of Regulation
In an interview with Panel S.A., Alexandre Fonseca, CEO of Superbet Brasil, emphasized the advantages of regulation for both the sector and the country.
“A regulated market promotes legal and tax security for operations, increases revenue for the Union and offers greater protection to players. All serious operators in the sector share these objectives,” Fonseca explained.
The Broader Impact on Brazil’s Betting Landscape
The move by Superbet is seen as a sign of the evolving Brazilian sports betting market. According to Régis Dudena, Secretary of Prizes and Bets at the Ministry of Treasury, a finalized list of companies authorized to operate in Brazil will be published in the Official Gazette in late December.
“From the last fortnight of December, a list of companies authorized to operate in Brazil from January 1, 2025, will be published in the Official Gazette. This list will include companies that made their request by August 20,” stated Dudena.
