Techno Offshore Fined €1.2 Million for Illegal Gambling
The Dutch Gambling Authority (Kansspelautoriteit, Ksa) has imposed a €1.2 million fine on Techno Offshore Limited for offering illegal online gambling services in the Netherlands. The penalty stems from the company’s operation of two websites, nolimitbet.com and simplecasino.com, which targeted Dutch players without a local license and failed to implement essential safeguards.

Unlicensed Operations Targeting Dutch Players
The Ksa determined that Techno Offshore Limited provided online gambling services to users in the Netherlands without holding the mandatory national license. Such operations are prohibited under Dutch gambling law, which strictly regulates market access to ensure consumer protection and responsible gambling practices.
An investigation revealed that nolimitbet.com and simplecasino.com did not implement sufficient barriers to prevent access by Dutch players. Key issues included the absence of a visible age verification process during registration and the availability of features such as autoplay and turboplay. These functionalities are known to contribute to excessive gambling behavior.
Regulator’s Concerns About Player Safety
Ksa board member Michel Groothuizen highlighted the contrast between licensed and unlicensed operators, stating:
“Licensed operators in the Netherlands must comply with a wide range of regulations to protect players from gambling addiction. With illegal providers, we often see that no measures are taken to prevent risky gambling behavior—for example, by not enforcing age verification, allowing payments with cryptocurrency, or lacking betting limits. We take strict action against such parties because they lure players to illegal offerings where players are insufficiently protected.”
