The courts mandated these firms to reimburse player losses, prompting a surge of claims from gamblers seeking compensation. In response, 888 has earmarked £116 million to address these legal and regulatory issues, primarily concerning its operations in Austria and Germany.

The past 18 months have seen 888 plagued by a series of compliance failings. Issues escalated with the suspension of VIP customer accounts in the Middle East over potential money laundering concerns, leading to the resignation of CEO Itai Pazner.
