KSA grants license to SCGO Limited, opening doors to Dutch market

The Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) made a significant announcement on Friday, June 23, as it granted an iGaming license to SCGO Limited, a prominent gambling operator. With this license, SCGO Limited will now be able to enter the Netherlands market and offer its range of products to local players.

Five-year license

The Dutch regulator, in accordance with the Remote Gambling Act (KOA), cleared SCGO Limited for the online launch, enabling the operator to provide games of chance to Dutch players. The license, valid for a period of five years, grants SCGO Limited access to one of the most lucrative European online gambling markets.

While the specific domain name that SCGO Limited will operate under in the Netherlands is yet to be announced, the KSA has assured that it will promptly include the information in the Dutch Gaming Guide once it becomes available.

SCGO Limited joins the ranks of 23 other companies that have obtained a KOA permit to operate online gambling services in the Netherlands, emphasizing the increasing interest in the country’s regulated market.

Control Database compliance and advertisement ban

Rene Jensen, Chairman of the KSA, recently highlighted forthcoming changes in gambling regulation, underscoring the significance of Control Database (CDB) compliance. Jensen emphasized that legal operators must ensure their data vaults are properly organized, as data plays a crucial role in combating gambling-related money laundering.

Jensen also addressed the topic of gambling advertisements, reminding operators of the updated advertising rules in the Netherlands. Effective July 1, untargeted advertising of online gambling products will be prohibited. However, companies operating both land-based and online brands can continue promoting their traditional casino businesses as usual.
