Lithuania’s Gambling Supervisory Authority hits Baltic Bet with hefty fine

Lithuania’s Gambling Supervisory Authority has imposed a fine of €16,705 (£14,319/$18,259) on Baltic Bet for violating regulations related to the promotion of gambling to consumers.

Concerns about Baltic Bet’s utilization of specific keywords

After conducting an investigation, the Authority found out that Baltic Bet had posted content on their website that promoted gambling activities. This content was accessible from November 3, 2022, until February 28 of this year.

The regulatory body found that Baltic Bet had breached Lithuania’s Law on Gambling by promoting gambling, as outlined in Article 10, Paragraph 19. Additionally, the Authority expressed apprehension over Baltic Bet’s use of certain keywords on Google to advertise its Optibet label.

Further consequences

The operator managed to attract attention to their website by using the keywords “Optibet casino” and “Optibet live betting.” However, this resulted in another violation of Article 10, Paragraph 19 of the Law on Gambling.

As a result of their actions, Baltic Bet received a fine and a warning from the regulator, stating that stricter measures may be taken if they repeat such violations in the future. Baltic Bet has been given until July 7 to resolve these concerns.
