Delaware sports betting declines, but iGaming hits yearly high in May
In May, sports betting handle in Delaware saw a decline, but the spending on online gaming hit its peak for this year.
$2.8 million wagered on sports in May
According to the latest figures, consumers wagered $2.8 million on sports in May, representing a 45.1% decline compared to the same month in 2022 and a 17.7% decrease from April 2023. This marked the lowest monthly total since August 2022.
In the past month, the revenue generated from sports betting amounted to $245,474, which is a 50.5% decrease compared to the previous year and a 34.5% decline compared to April.
IGaming hits yearly high
During the month of May, there was a significant increase in online gambling activity. The amount of money spent on iGaming hit a new monthly high for the current year, reaching $44.2 million. This represents a 38.6% increase from May 2022 and an 11.9% increase from April 2023. Video lottery games accounted for $26.6 million of the total, while $17.5 million was spent on online table games.
Revenue from iGaming reached $1.2 million, representing a 9.1% year-on-year increase but a 7.7% decrease from April. This consisted of $976,880 in video lottery revenue, $216,554 from table games, and an additional $38,318 in poker rake and fee.
