DFB expands partnership with Genius Sports to combat match-fixing and corruption in betting
The German Football Association (DFB) has broadened its partnership with Genius Sports Limited to enhance its efforts towards maintaining the integrity and combating the risks associated with match-fixing and corruption in betting.
DFB and Genius Sports are expanding their partnership
Genius Sports has been offering the DFB its advanced Bet Monitoring System since 2019. This system scrutinizes odds fluctuations of over 7,500 matches annually from all over the world using predictive algorithms to identify any suspicious betting activities. The DFB will continue to receive constant monitoring and analysis of all levels of German football.
DFB has recently enhanced their measures against betting-related corruption by implementing Genius Sports’ Intelligence platform, in collaboration with Clue. This tool enables DFB to promptly detect patterns and improve their ability to detect potential threats to players, coaches and match officials.
Additionally, it helps identify any participants who may have been involved in suspicious matches and any underlying trends of betting-related corruption. Genius Sports will provide DFB with comprehensive global intelligence and transparency, which will aid its understanding of the risks associated with its competition.
The centralised vault
The Genius Sports Intelligence system will provide the DFB with a centralised vault of all integrity reports, supporting investigations and allowing the partnership to be proactive in the analysis and identification of potential risk areas.
“To protect competition integrity in football, it is important for us to work with professional service providers”, said Eva Immerheiser, Integrity Officer at the DFB. “In the continuation of the cooperation with Genius as well as the intelligence upgrade with Clue, we see the opportunity to detect possible illicit patterns faster and to be able to intervene at an early stage. We look forward to working with Genius on a new level.”
“Protecting our contract partners and world sport from match-fixing and betting-related corruption requires constant vigilance and product enhancements,” said Simon Martyn, Director of Rights Enforcement & Integrity at Genius Sports. “By expanding our cooperation with the DFB, we will provide rich intelligence, analysis and visibility to help protect one of the largest and most prestigious football associations in the world.”
