IGT Secures New Contract with Portugal’s National Lottery

International Game Technology (IGT) has signed a three-year agreement with Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa (SCML), the operator of Portugal’s national lottery.

IGT Expands Its Role in Portugal’s Lottery System

International Game Technology (IGT), through its subsidiary IGT Global Solutions Corporation, has secured a three-year contract with Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa (SCML), Portugal’s national lottery operator.

As the outcome of a competitive bidding process, IGT will continue to serve as the key provider of instant ticket printing and related services to SCML.

This agreement strengthens IGT’s already significant presence in Portugal, continuing a collaboration that began in 2000.

Enhanced Game Content and Marketing Services

The new agreement offers SCML access to IGT’s broad portfolio of instant ticket games, catering to the diverse tastes of Portuguese players.

Beyond printing services, IGT will deliver tailored marketing solutions, including game development and advanced analytics.

These services are aimed at optimizing product offerings to better meet local consumer preferences, ensuring the lottery’s continued success in Portugal’s competitive market.

A Long-Standing Partnership Built on Trust

IGT has been a trusted technology partner for SCML for over two decades. Since 2000, the company has provided SCML with essential services, such as central retail system hardware and software, terminal maintenance, and field support.

This latest contract further solidifies the relationship between IGT and SCML, allowing both entities to continue working closely together to support the Portuguese lottery sector.

Global Reach and Expertise in the Lottery Industry

IGT’s experience is not limited to Portugal. In the United States, the company supplies technology to 26 of the 46 state lotteries, and it holds significant contracts with major lottery operators worldwide.

Jay Gendron, IGT’s COO, highlighted the company’s expertise in the region, stating, “IGT’s longtime partnership with SCML and extensive knowledge of the Portuguese market will enable us to work closely with the Lottery to offer world-class instant ticket games based on the local needs of its players.”

IGT’s Broader Industry Moves

Beyond this contract, IGT continues to expand its global footprint. Earlier this month, the company appointed Nick Khin as President of Global Gaming, signaling a leadership shift designed to strengthen IGT’s competitive position in the gaming sector.

Moreover, the company is actively growing its sports betting operations, particularly in the U.S. market, where it recently partnered with Monarch Casino & Resort to provide its PlaySports platform.
