ITHUBA’s Inspiring Journey: Building Homes and Hope Across South Africa

Since taking over as the National Lottery Operator in 2015, ITHUBA has shown incredible tenacity and vision, rising to become Africa’s premier operator. Their journey from modest beginnings to extraordinary success is a testament to their commitment to innovation, excellence, and philanthropy.

In 2022, ITHUBA embarked on their first national housing project and continued to expand their efforts in 2023 with their largest housing project to date. Their team is set for a multi-provincial roadshow starting in Gauteng on December 5, 2023. This initiative showcases CEO Mrs. Charmaine Mabuza’s deep commitment to providing solid home foundations, particularly impactful during the festive season.

Addressing the Housing Crisis with Compassion and Action

ITHUBA has been active in tackling the housing crisis, starting with projects for staff members before moving to larger initiatives. In December 2022, they provided homes to families affected by tragedies and floods in KwaZulu-Natal. For 2023, they partnered with DPSA (Disabled People South Africa) to build homes for differently-abled individuals.

Mrs. Mabuza describes the careful selection process: “Through this process, we have been able to select a diverse group of differently abled beneficiaries, and others facing extreme challenges. By undertaking such a thorough process of examination, we have been able to ensure that houses are being allocated to those who families that need it the most.”

Changing Lives One Family at a Time

Beneficiaries like Harold Ntsoto, a paraplegic, express immense gratitude for the life-changing impact of ITHUBA’s initiative. The roadshow will extend to the Free State and Eastern Cape, symbolizing more than festive cheer but a path to lasting change and peace.

Mrs. Mabuza, drawing from her experience as a mother, believes in the transformative power of a stable home environment. She asserts, “Every person deserves to have a roof over their head and a place they can call home. This is a big challenge for South Africans but one I believe we can overcome if we work together.”

A Call to Action for All South Africans

As 2023 concludes, ITHUBA encourages South Africans to contribute to societal improvement in any way they can. Mrs. Mabuza inspires fellow citizens: “It is inspiring to see the positive impact our initiatives have on the lives of the beneficiaries. My advice to fellow South Africans is to recognize the power each individual has to make a difference.”
