La Française des Jeux (FDJ) Completes Acquisition of ZEturf Group

La Française des Jeux (FDJ) has successfully concluded its acquisition of the ZEturf group, a prominent player in online horse-race betting and online sports betting under the ZEbet brand.

The transaction, with an enterprise value of €175 million, received the green light from the French Competition Authority (Autorité de la Concurrence) on September 15, 2023.

About ZEturf Group

Founded in 2001, the ZEturf group, with approximately a hundred employees, reported revenues exceeding €50 million in 2022. ZEturf holds the position of France’s second-largest online horse-race betting operator, boasting a market share of approximately 20%.

This acquisition propels FDJ Group into the ranks of France’s fourth-largest player in the competitive online gaming sector, encompassing sports betting, horse-race betting, and poker, securing a market share of over 10%.

New Organizational Structure

To maximize the potential offered by the integration with ZEturf and harness synergies within its competitive online gaming business, FDJ Group is committed to implementing a new organizational structure. This restructuring aligns with the commitments made to the French Competition Authority.

Stéphane Pallez, Chairwoman and CEO of FDJ, expressed her views on this significant development. She stated “The acquisition of ZEturf marks a new chapter for La Française des Jeux and strengthens our position in the French market for online games open to competition. Following the launch of our poker business, our entry into the world of online horse-race betting rounds out our diversified online range and bolsters FDJ Group’s growth prospects while remaining aligned with our responsible gaming model.”
