OpenBet Achieves Record-Breaking Transaction Volume at Grand National 2024

OpenBet, a provider of content, platforms, and services to the sports betting industry, has shattered previous records at the 2024 Grand National Festival. The provider handled over 101,000 bets per minute at peak times, marking a significant 21% increase from the previous year.

OpenBet’s Stellar Performance at Grand National

The Grand National, hosted at Aintree, remains one of the most eagerly anticipated events in the horse racing calendar. This year’s event was particularly noteworthy as jockey Paul Townend clinched his first Grand National victory aboard the joint-favourite, I Am Maximus. Despite the race featuring a reduced field of 34 runners, the betting fervor was undiminished, showcased by the robust figures reported by OpenBet.

Over the course of the three-day festival, OpenBet’s advanced betting engine facilitated 397 million account transactions for leading market operators such as William Hill, Entain, and Flutter.

Key Performance Indicators

Among the highlights from this year’s festival were:

  • 3,000 bets processed per second at peak times, up 34% from the previous year
  • A total of 397 million account transactions, marking a 3% rise from 2023

Industry Expertise and Technological Reliability

Florian Diederichsen, CTO at OpenBet, emphasized the company’s commitment to excellence, stating, “We continue to deliver record-breaking results at OpenBet, across some of the world’s major sporting events. This year, the Grand National attracted extraordinary levels of bettors. With an average win and each way stake being £5.42, any downtime would have risked significant turnover. Thankfully, our operator partners were able to provide a flawless betting experience thanks to our highly experienced team and industry-leading technology. We are excited to build on this success in the upcoming summer of sport.”
