Superbet Group announced Hans-Holger Albrecht, former CEO of Deezer SA, as its new Chairman of the Board. Supported by Blackstone Inc. the company is currently preparing to make an initial public offering (IPO).

Hans-Holger Albrecht new Chairman of the Board of Superbet

In a statement to Bloomberg, the group announced that Albrecht will replace Superbet founder Sacha Dragic, who will retain his seat on the board, on February 28.

The move comes as Superbet plans to expand beyond its existing markets of Romania, Belgium, and Poland, where the company was present.

“His in-depth financial knowledge and governance expertise will be of great benefit to the Group and our ambitions to become a publicly listed company,” Dragic said in the statement.

Preparations to enter the stock market

Superbet, which received a €175 million ($187 million) investment from Blackstone in 2019, operates in 10 European countries. Last year, the group recorded more than €1 billion in revenue and €200 million in profit.

There wasn’t much going on in the European IPO market in 2022, as rising interest rates and higher inflation scared off the investors. Observable increases in the stock markets have now prompted some companies to pre-check demand for new stocks.

Italian gambling company Lottomatica, for example, is also considering going public, Reuters reported last week. This information seems all the more credible, as the company had already announced that it was considering an IPO. According to current information, it would take place in April this year.
