Per Widerström Appointed CEO of 888 Holdings, Shares Rise 5%

Per Widerström has been appointed as the new CEO of 888 Holdings, taking over from Itai Pazner. The announcement led to a 5% rise in the company’s share price.

Critical time

Widerström’s appointment comes at a critical time for the company as it looks to penetrate the North American market and address compliance and regulatory challenges in its core European markets. He brings a strong record in governance and compliance and has experience in both public and private companies.

Widerström will oversee brands such as 888, Mr Green, and William Hill, the latter being significant due to its heavy retail presence. His experience at Fortuna Entertainment, Expekt, Bwin, and Gala Interactive makes him a valuable addition to the team. Lord Mendehlson, the Non-Executive Chair, expressed confidence in Widerström’s ability to lead the group to further growth and value creation.

Comprehensive search process

Lord Mendelsohn, Executive Chair of 888, stated:“ We are delighted to be able to appoint Per following what has been an extensive and comprehensive search process. The Board unanimously agreed that Per was the clear standout candidate to lead the Group to build on the strong platform for growth and value creation that has been established.”

Per Widerström, incoming CEO of 888, commented: “I am delighted and honoured to become the Group’s new CEO. Following 888’s combination with William Hill, the Group has a world-class portfolio of betting and gaming brands, an outstanding technology platform, and an exceptional team. Together these attributes mean it is exceptionally well positioned to become a clear global industry leader.”
