Accredited Companies for Sports Betting in Rio de Janeiro Announced

The Rio de Janeiro State Lottery (LOTERJ) has completed the accreditation process for companies interested in operating sports betting within the Brazilian state. The deadline for submissions was August 11.

Eight licensed companies

A total of eight companies successfully met the requirements set by LOTERJ and have been accredited to operate sports betting through virtual means. This will include online access via desktop, mobile apps, Video Lottery Terminals (VLT), Point of Sale (POS) systems, and Terminals/Totens.

The list of accredited companies includes JBD from Campina Grande, Laguna from São Paulo, LEMA from São Paulo, PIXBET from Campina Grande, REDE LOTO from São Paulo, S.D.L. from Nova Lima, ST SOFT from Campina Grande, and 1XBET from Caxias do Sul.

Five-year concession

Under the supervision of LOTERJ’s president, Hazenclever Lopes Cançado, each of the accredited companies is required to pay BRL 5 million ($991,910) for a five-year concession. Additionally, they must remunerate the Lottery with 5% of their gross gaming revenues.

It’s worth noting that while the accredited companies will be based in Rio de Janeiro, they will have the authorization to offer and commercialize bets across the entire country. This decision led to a legal challenge from Caixa Econômica Federal (CEF), prompted by the need to comply with the Provisional Measure that regulates sports betting in Brazil.
