Allwyn Begins Trial of Innovative National Lottery Retail Equipment Across the UK

Allwyn, the organization behind the National Lottery, has initiated a trial rollout of new permanent point of sale (PPOS) equipment in select retail locations throughout the United Kingdom. This move represents a significant phase in Allwyn’s retail investment strategy, aiming to modernize the in-store experience and boost sales of National Lottery products.

Elevating Retail Experience with Advanced PPOS

The new PPOS units, developed in collaboration with experts in accessibility and sustainability, are designed to enhance the visibility of National Lottery games and increase customer engagement. The state-of-the-art equipment includes an eye-catching, illuminated Scratchcard dispenser with integrated lighting and an HD screen, as well as a revamped Playstation equipped with double-sided graphics and displays showcasing local National Lottery-funded projects.

Raj Kularajah, the proprietor of Twinsco store in St Albans, has already witnessed the positive impact of the new equipment on his customers. The enhanced visibility and appeal of the Scratchcard dispenser have attracted new players, including some who had never participated in lottery games before. Kularajah’s experience underscores the potential of the new PPOS to engage customers and introduce them to the excitement of National Lottery games.

Allwyn’s Vision for a Modernized Retail Channel

Alex Green, Allwyn’s Director of Channel Operations, expressed enthusiasm for the trial’s progress and its alignment with the company’s broader objectives. Allwyn’s commitment to delivering societal benefits through innovative, accessible, and sustainable retail solutions is evident in this initiative. The trial phase is crucial for ensuring the new PPOS can be seamlessly integrated into various retail settings, paving the way for a widespread rollout.

Approximately 40 stores are expected to be equipped with the new PPOS units by the end of May, with plans to expand the deployment to an additional 10,000 outlets later in the year. This extensive rollout is anticipated to transform the retail landscape for National Lottery products, enhancing the customer experience and supporting Allwyn’s goal of responsible growth over the next decade.
