Andreas Söneby Replaces Tomasz Juroszek on GiG Platform Board

Andreas Söneby, former chief information officer of Kambi, has joined the board of directors for Gaming Innovation Group’s (GiG) Platform business. He replaces Tomasz Juroszek, bringing extensive experience in the gaming and technology sectors to the role.

 Addition to the Board

Andreas Söneby, previously the chief information officer (CIO) at Kambi, has been appointed to the board of directors of Gaming Innovation Group’s (GiG) Platform business, stepping in for Tomasz Juroszek. Söneby’s extensive background in the gaming and technology sectors, particularly in leadership roles, is expected to be a significant advantage for GiG as it continues its trajectory of growth and innovation.

The company expressed confidence in Söneby’s capabilities, stating that he “brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record in the gaming and technology sectors, making him an invaluable addition to the GiG Platform board as we continue to grow and innovate in the industry.”

A Proven Leader in the Gaming Sector

Söneby’s career in the online gambling industry is marked by several high-profile positions. Before his tenure at Kambi from 2010 to 2020, where he played a key role as CIO, Söneby held the position of chief technology officer (CTO) at Unibet. His contributions at Unibet, where he advanced through the ranks since joining in 2006, further underscore his ability to manage complex operations and deliver significant results.

GiG emphasized this point, noting that Söneby was “instrumental in driving the company’s technology strategy, overseeing a team of over 300 professionals, and managing exponential transaction growth” during his time at Kambi.

After leaving Kambi, Söneby continued to influence the technology and gaming sectors. He briefly served as CEO of White Hat Gaming and later took on the role of vice president of engineering at Instabox, a logistics company that eventually merged with Budbee to become Instabee.

In addition to these roles, Söneby remains active as a senior adviser on IT-related matters and is a venture partner at the Swedish venture capital firm Industrifonden.

Organisational Changes at GiG

Söneby’s appointment comes as GiG prepares for a significant organizational change. He will replace Tomasz Juroszek on the GiG Platform board, which is currently a temporary committee of the board of directors. This change is part of the company’s broader strategy as it moves towards the completion of its division into two separate entities: GiG Platform and Gentoo Media.

Petter Nylander, chairman of GiG Software PLC, expressed confidence in the decision, stating, “We are delighted to welcome Andreas to our GiG Platform board. His deep industry knowledge and leadership experience will be instrumental as we continue to strengthen our position as a leading player in the gaming industry. We are confident that Andreas’s insights and expertise will bring significant value to our board and to the company as a whole.”
