Betfred to Appoint New Chief Operations Officer as Mark Stebbings Departs
Betfred, the prominent UK betting group, is in the process of selecting a new Chief Operations Officer (COO) as Mark Stebbings has announced his departure from the company at the end of last week.
Long-serving Employee
Stebbings, a long-serving employee with nearly 30 years of experience at Betfred, made the announcement via his LinkedIn account, expressing his pride in being part of the company’s remarkable growth journey. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in various aspects of Betfred’s operations and credited company founder Fred Done as an influential mentor who guided his career progression.
Stebbings reflected on his journey from starting as a trainee betting shop manager to eventually becoming the Group Chief Operating Officer. He acknowledged the belief and faith that Fred Done had in him as he climbed the ranks within the organization.
Stebbings departs Betfred after overseeing the company’s post-pandemic recovery strategy, which was successfully implemented across its extensive network of over 1,400 betting shops. The return to ‘normalized trading’ resulted in the declaration of underlying profits of £20 million for the 2021/2022 corporate accounts.
Vital Role
Among his career highlights, Stebbings played a vital role in Betfred’s international expansion efforts, including the launch of new properties in South Africa and several US states, such as Colorado, Arizona, Ohio, Virginia, and Maryland.
In his farewell message, Stebbings expressed gratitude to the many colleagues he had the privilege to work with over the years. He acknowledged the emotional significance of his departure and extended his best wishes to Betfred for continued growth and success. Stebbings intends to take a short break and spend quality time with his family before deciding on his future endeavors.
Betfred will now embark on the search for a new Chief Operations Officer to continue its growth and operational excellence in the betting industry.
