Dutch Regulator Cracks Down on Unauthorised Payout Conditions

The Netherlands Gambling Authority (KSA) has taken decisive action against several online gambling operators for imposing unauthorised conditions on player payouts. After a thorough investigation, nine operators have been ordered to cease these practices immediately, while four others received warnings.

Investigation Uncovers Unauthorised Practices

The Netherlands Gambling Authority (Kansspelautoriteit, KSA) has recently identified several licensed online gambling operators that have been applying unauthorised conditions when processing player credit payouts.

A thorough investigation led the KSA to demand that nine operators immediately cease these practices. Furthermore, an additional four operators have come under scrutiny and received warnings for potentially similar violations. KSA doesn’t disclose the names of operators.

Dutch gambling regulations are clear on the matter: licensed online gambling providers must promptly refund player credits upon request, without imposing any unnecessary conditions. This means that practices such as setting minimum payout amounts or requiring additional wagering are strictly prohibited.

KSA Responds to Continued Payout Issues

Despite the KSA issuing explicit guidelines in March regarding the proper handling of player payouts, reports continued to surface about operators not complying with these rules.

These persistent issues led the KSA to conduct a targeted investigation, which resulted in the identification of the non-compliant practices. All 13 operators involved have been required to submit written confirmations that they do not, and will not, impose such unauthorised conditions on payouts.

The KSA has made it clear that it will maintain close oversight of the situation to ensure full compliance with Dutch regulations. The authority has warned that it will take further action if necessary to enforce the rules and protect the interests of players.
