FanDuel becomes CFL’s first authorized gaming operator and official sportsbook partner

The Canadian Football League (CFL) has announced that it is partnering with FanDuel, making them the league’s inaugural authorized gaming operator and Official Sportsbook Partner. This collaboration allows fans and sports enthusiasts in Ontario, aged 19 and above, to place wagers on CFL games through FanDuel, using in-game player propositions and futures bets.

Stronger connection with fans

Tyler Mazereeuw, the CFL’s Chief Commercial Officer, expressed excitement about this new venture, stating, “Responsible sports wagering is another way for our league to further its connection with our fans. We’re excited to work with FanDuel to deliver an exciting and innovative betting experience.” He emphasized the importance of responsible gambling and urged adult fans with the means to do so to engage in wagering.

FanDuel will offer an industry-leading CFL betting experience, starting this season. Fans can expect a wide range of betting markets, including in-game player props like anytime touchdown scorer, passing, rushing, and receiving yardage. Additionally, futures bets will be available, enabling fans to predict the team that will be crowned the 110th Grey Cup champion in Hamilton on Sunday, November 19.

Dale Hooper, GM of FanDuel Canada, expressed pride in partnering with the CFL and recognized the league’s passionate fan base. Importance of responsible gaming

To maintain the integrity of the league and protect against match manipulation, the CFL recently implemented a Match Manipulation Policy in collaboration with the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES). The league also launched an e-learning course to educate CFL players and personnel about the policy and how they can be targeted by match fixers.

FanDuel, along with the CFL, emphasizes responsible gaming practices and the safety of the betting ecosystem. Dale Hooper stated, “Responsible gaming is the foundation of FanDuel’s core values,” highlighting the company’s commitment to compliance with regulating bodies and provincial regulations. FanDuel prioritizes responsible gaming to ensure user safety and enjoyment.

Fans aged 19 and over in Ontario can now place wagers on CFL games through FanDuel. The league is also exploring additional partnerships to expand betting opportunities for those interested and responsibly able to wager on the CFL.
