Ukrainian Gambling Regulator Blocks 3,000 Illegal Gambling Sites in 2024

The Ukrainian gambling regulator, KRAIL, has blocked nearly 3,000 unlicensed gambling operators this year. At the same time, self-exclusion registrations have increased by 7%, reflecting growing awareness of responsible gambling measures.

KRAIL Shuts Down Additional Unlicensed Gambling Platforms

In a recent move, Ukraine’s Commission for the Regulation of Gambling and Lotteries (KRAIL) has taken action against five more illegal websites, including 1xslot.com, Bet2casino.fun, Betmatch2win.com, Betwinner6.com, and Kasinos-vip.net. These sites were found to be offering gambling services within Ukraine without the necessary licenses, violating the country’s strict regulations in the gaming sector.

KRAIL has been proactive in curbing illegal gambling activities, with nearly 3,000 unlicensed websites blocked so far this year. The targeted sites were given a three-day window to comply with the shutdown orders.

Rise in Self-Exclusion Registrations

In addition to its crackdown on illegal sites, KRAIL has reported a 7% increase in registrations for its national self-exclusion scheme. Between July and August, 557 new players signed up, bringing the total number of self-excluded individuals to 8,431 as of August 1st. This marks a steady rise from 7,874 registrations on July 1st.

KRAIL views the self-exclusion register as a critical mechanism in its broader strategy to prevent problem gambling. The increase in registrations indicates that more Ukrainian players are taking steps to control their gambling habits and seeking protection from potential addiction.

KRAIL Warns Against Online Scams on Illegal Gambling Sites

During a recent meeting, KRAIL also addressed the issue of online scams targeting local players through illegal gambling sites. These scams often involve players being lured to unlicensed platforms, where their deposits are diverted, and they are required to pay fees to retrieve their funds. In some cases, after making these payments, players are accused of fraudulent activity and fined further.

KRAIL has urged players to verify the licensing status of online operators before engaging in any gambling activities. This warning is part of the regulator’s ongoing efforts to protect Ukrainian consumers from the risks associated with illegal gambling and online fraud.
