World Pool Expands Global Reach with Inclusion of English and Irish 1000 Guineas in 2024

In a landmark move for global horse racing, World Pool, spearheaded by the Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC), will incorporate the English G1 QIPCO 1000 Guineas and the G1 Tattersalls Irish 1000 Guineas into its internationally commingled betting pools in 2024, marking a significant expansion in the UK and Ireland.

World Pool Welcomes Prestigious Classics

For the first time, the English G1 QIPCO 1000 Guineas and the G1 Tattersalls Irish 1000 Guineas will be part of the World Pool lineup in 2024, allowing punters from 28 countries to participate in a unified betting pool for these historic races. The inclusion of these events extends World Pool’s footprint in the global racing scene, adding to the allure of the already established G1 QIPCO 2000 Guineas card as a World Pool event since 2022.

The expansion isn’t limited to the UK and Ireland; World Pool will also see new fixtures from Australia and South Africa, totaling seven additional race days in the first half of 2024. This includes notable Australian races such as the Blue Diamond Stakes Day and the Australian Cup Day, alongside South Africa’s Derby Day and the Gold Challenge, broadening World Pool’s global appeal.

A Growing Global Fixture List

With these new additions, World Pool is set to host 21 fixtures in the first half of 2024, encompassing major racing events like the Saudi Cup Day, Dubai World Cup Day, and the entirety of Royal Ascot. This expansion is a testament to World Pool’s commitment to covering the most significant races worldwide.

Michael Fitzsimons, Executive Director of Wagering Products at HKJC, expressed enthusiasm for adding these prestigious races to World Pool’s roster: “We’re excited to be continuing the expansion of World Pool in 2024 by adding new race days from Australia, South Africa, the UK and Ireland to our growing list of fixtures.”

Martin Stevenson, CEO of Racecourse Media Group (RMG), also commended the addition of the 1000 Guineas races to the World Pool schedule: “The addition of the QIPCO 1000 Guineas at Newmarket and the Tattersalls Irish 1000 Guineas – two of the most prestigious Classics – further strengthens the World Pool schedule. We look forward to another successful year for World Pool and working with all parties to help grow income for the sport and further enhance its popularity.”
